Abstract:Long COVID is a pathological condition characterized by persistent multi-system symptoms post SARS-CoV-2 infection.Factors contributing to its development include ongoing viral presence, dysregulated immune and inflammatory responses, changes in microbiota, vagus nerve dysfunction, and metabolic alterations.Treatment currently centers around symptom management due to the lack of a standardized approach.Potential future directions for treatment involve preventing viral invasion, modulating immune responses, regulating microbiota, and enhancing neurological and metabolic function.Additional research is needed to comprehend the mechanisms underlying long COVID and guide the management and treatment of those affected.
