Abstract:Tetanus is an infectious disease characterized by muscular spasms after Clostridium tetani invades human wounds. In recent years, with the improvement of sanitary conditions and widespread immunization, the morbidity of tetanus has diminished considerably. Nevertheless, tetanus remains an important cause of death in developing countries, especially in economically underdeveloped rural areas. Due to the lack of evidence in laboratory, it is easy to misdiagnose and delay in treatment. This paper reports a case of tetanus patient without typical traumatic history. Through the analysis of the condition and literature review, it aims to improve the ability of clinicians to diagnose and treat this disease.
