Cryptococcus laurentii meningitis secondary to AIDS:a case report

Abstract:Cryptococcal meningitis is an infectious disease of the central nervous system caused by the invasion of cryptococci,which can be seen in T-cell-deficient people with long-term high-dose glucocorticoid therapy,organ transplantation,malignant tumors,and human immunodeficiency virus infection,but Cryptococcus laurentii infection in humans is rare.Here we report a case of Cryptococcus laurentii infection in AIDS patients,which caused cryptococcal meningitis combined with pulmonary cryptococcosis,and discuss the pathogenesis,clinical manifestations,auxiliary examinations,diagnosis and treatment of this disease,so as to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment of AIDS combined with cryptococcal meningitis.
