Epidemiological analysis of rotavirus infection in children in Xi'an from 2018 to 2022

Abstract:Objective To explore the epidemic characteristics of rotavirus infection in children and to provide scientific basis for adjusting control strategies.Methods Data of rotavirus infection in children in the Department of Pediatric of the Frist Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical University from January 2018 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed,and descriptive statistical analysis was performed.Results A total of 994 cases of rotavirus infection were reported from 2018 to 2022,and the incidence ratio of male to female was 1.41:1,with no significant statistical significance.The age of onset was mainly children under 5 years old,especially 0-2 years old(excluding 2 years old),accounting for 76.66%of the total number of cases.The onset months were mainly in December of the same year and January of the following year,accounting for 52.92%of the total number of cases.Conclusion The prevention and control of rotavirus infection should be done actively,especially in winter,attention should be paid to the prevention of infants and young children,and attention should be paid to the screening of gastroenteritis children of low age.
