Abstract:American trypanosomiasis, also known as Chagas disease, is a zoonose caused by the protist Trypanosoma cruzi. It is estimated that approximately 10 million people are currently infected with Chagas disease, mostly in Latin America. American trypanosomiasis is classified as one of the "most neglected diseases". With the population migration and economic globalization, this disease has spread to Europe and other regions, showing a worldwide epidemic trend. At present, there are no affected cases of such disease reported in China. However, the insect vector triatomine bug has been found in China, which requires urgent attention from the public.
