Effect evaluation of real-time surveillance network for infectious diseases in Beijing Anzhen Hospital

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the effect of real-time surveillance network for infectious disease. Methods A LAN-based network of infectious disease surveillance and warning was designed and implemented. The cases with infectious diseases in the hospital were reported automatically in real time through the network. The reporting promptness rate of infectious disease cases was increased. Results The promptness rate of the network reporting of infectious diseases was 100%. Delayed and missing reports of infectious diseases were avoided. Compared with manual searching, 5-hour was saved in ten-day periods, nearly half of previous time. Conclusions To reinforce the management of real-time surveillance network, and to strengthen the prospective active surveillance of infectious diseases are the key to effectively avoid the delayed or missing reports.
