Effects of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor on acute-on-chronic liver failure: a Meta-analysis

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the effect of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) on acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). Methods The literatures and corresponding references of randomized controlled trials on G-CSF in the treatment of ACLF were searched from Cochrane Library (from 1970 to 2018), EMBASE (from 1966 to 2018), Pubmed (from 1966 to 2018) and China Biology Medicine disc (from 1978 to 2018). Selection of literatures, data extraction and methodological quality assessment were separately performed by 2 researchers. The software RevMan 5.3 of Cochrane Collaboration was used for statistical analysis. Results A total of 3 trails, including 201 patients were enrolled in this study. Meta analysis results showed that G-CSF could effectively improve the survival rate of ACLF patients compared with placebo/blank controls (RR=1.72, 95%CI: 1.25 ～ 2.37, P=0.0009). Conclusions G-CSF can effectively improve the survival rate of ACLF patients.
