Application of role experience method in nursing safety education for nursing students in infectious diseases surgery practice

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of role experience method on the nursing safety education of nursing students in infectious diseases surgery practice. Methods At department of liver cancer surgery in our hospital, nursing students graduated in 2016 and in 2017 were enrolled as the control group and experimental group, respectively. The control group was trained by conventional teaching methods, which mainly used PPT, according to training plan based on the internship program. In addition to conventional training as control group, nursing students in the experimental group received nurse-patient experience training, that is, they played the roles of nurses or patients to experience abnormalities in medical care, thus enhancing learn effect and strengthening their responsibility in nursing practice. Results Nursing students in the experimental group were superior to those in control group regarding the theory and operation performance as well as nursing safety awareness (P < 0.05). Conclusions Role experience method may achieve better results in nursing safety training and is worthy of application and promotion.
