Abstract:Objective To observe the application effects of Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) circulation in the quality control of nosocomial infection management. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the nosocomial infection management of our hospital from 2013 to 2016. The nosocomial infection incidence, multi-drug resistant bacteria (MDROs) detection rate, the compliance and awareness rate of management system, as well as the disinfectant and sterilization effect before and after PDCA circulation were comparatively analyzed. Results Before and after PDCA circulation, the nosocomial infection incidence were 2.05% and 1.67%, respectively, and the MDROs detection rate showed a declined tendency (1.38%, 1.30%, 1.07%, 0.90%). The compliance and awareness rate of management system were significantly increased, and the disinfectant effect of the air, objective's surface and medical staff's hands were significantly improved after the PDCA circulation. Conclusions Using the PDCA circulation in the quality control of nosocomial infection management can significantly improve the compliance of medical staff, increase the disinfectant and sterilization effect and reduce the nosocomial infection incidence and MDROs detection rate.
