Abstract:Objective To study the feasibility of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) treated by extract from rabbit skin inflamed by vaccinia virus for injection (ERSVV) and its influence on the expression of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and β-endorphin. Methods A total of 78 PHN patients were selected from our hospital from January 2016 to September 2017, and they were divided into research group (39 cases) and control group (39 cases) according to random number table method. The control group was given conventional treatment, and the research group was given intravenous ERSVV on the basis of conventional treatment. After 3 weeks of treatment, the clinical curative effect, severity and area of pain, sleep quality and adverse drug reactions of all patients were observed, and serum BDNF and β-endorphin levels were detected by ELISA method. Results The total effective rate (92.31%) in research group was higher than that (71.79%) in control group (P<0.05). The visual analogue scale pain score, pain area and sleep quality pittsburgh sleep quality index score of patients in research group were lower than those in control group (P<0.05). The levels of BDNF and β-endorphin in research group were higher than those in control group (P<0.05). The adverse drug reactions in 2 groups included nausea and vomiting, rash, dizziness and upset stomach. The incidence of adverse drug reactions in research group was 20.51%, which showed no statistical difference compared with the control group 17.95% (P>0.05). Conclusions ERSVV has good clinical curative effect in treatment of PHN. It can increase the expression levels of BDNF and β-endorphin and improve the severity and area of pain, as well as sleep quality.
