Imperative One Health strategy for the emerging infectious diseases

Abstract:Emerging infectious diseases have attracted increasing attentions, over 70% of which originate from animals and vectors, the frequency of outbreaks is rapidly rising and diseases have caused inestimable economic losses. Therefore, the prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases in world are facing serious challenge. In response to the current problems and challenges in prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases, One Health strategy which focuses on coordinating developments of human health, animal health and environmental health by strengthening multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral cooperation is proposed, with the emphasis on the prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases, food safety and microbial drug resistance. This article aimed to discuss the major difficulties and challenges currently facing in the prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases, and verify that One Health strategy is imperative to prevent and control the emerging infectious disease in China through illustrating the successful experience of One Health strategy in the field of global public health.
