Abstract:Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of bacillary dysentery in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps from 2006 to 2015 and to provide scientific evidences for the control and prevention of bacillary dysentery. Methods Descriptive epidemiology was used to analyze the data from routine report system for infectious disease in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps from 2006 to 2015.Results A total of 12380 bacillary dysentery cases were reported in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps from 2005 to 2016, the annual average incidence was 47.34/105 and displayed a descending tendency (P<0.05). The incidence was higher than the annual average incidence in China (22.89/105), and showed no significant difference compared with the annual average incidence in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (46.65/105) (P>0.05). Furthermore, the annual average incidence of bacillary dysentery in north Xinjiang (55.75/105) was significantly higher than that in south Xinjiang (25.97/105) (P<0.05). The incidence was higher in summer and autumn, and reached the peak from July to September. The incidence of males was obviously higher than that of females (P<0.05). All age groups were affected by bacillary dysentery, but the incidence was highest in 0-4 years group, followed by above 80 years group. Scattered children patients had the highest incidence among all occupations. Conclusions The control and prevention of bacillary dysentery in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corp should not be ignored. Control measures focusing on the target population should be taken in the high-incidence areas, thus effectively reducing the incidence.
