Abstract:Gut microbiota plays an important role in human disease's development and progression. Gut microbiota metabolizes host's intake food and forms metabolites, which are involved in general circulation through enteric epithelial barrier or other ways, thus triggering a series of signal pathways and affecting host's physiological processes. There are diverse kinds of gut microbial metabolites. The molecular mechanisms underlying the invasion and effects of various metabolites in cardiovascular metabolic diseases are elucidated. In this review we discuss the molecular mechanisms of several common metabolites of gut microbiota in cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension, atherosclerosis and heart failure, with the aim of providing a new direction for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
