Analysis of short-term curative effect of Cyberknife for brain metastasis from non-small cell lung cancer
Abstract:Objective To observe the short-term efficacy of Cyberknife treatment to brain metastasis of lung cancer. Methods Twenty-one non-small cell lung cancer patients with brain metastasis treated with Cyberknife were collected from May 2011 to December 2013. The radiation dose for brain metastasis was hypo-fraction, 3.50~8.50 Gy/1~ 10 fractions (median fraction: 5), 5.50~35.00 Gy in total (median dose: 24.00 Gy), and 15.72~48.00 Gy biological equivalent dose. Results One month after the treatment, the improvement rate of clinical symptoms was 90.4%; 3 months after treatment, the clinical effective rate was 71.0%, and the local control rate was 86.8%. Three months after the treatment, the NDS score decreased significantly, and the ANL score increased significantly meanwhile (allP<0.05). Conclusions As an effective treatment method, Cyberknife treatment can effectively prolong the survival of lung cancer patients with brain metastasis, improve the local control of tumor, reduce adverse reaction and improve patients′ quality of life.
