Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy of virtual navigation assisted contrast-enhanced ultrasound and conventional contrast-enhanced ultrasound in diagnosis of small hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods A total of 68 intrahepatic focal lesions in 45 cirrhotic patients, including 45 small hepatocellular carcinoma and 23 cirrhotic nodules, were all received CE-CT/CE-MRI examination and confirmed by pathology inspection. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the 2 methods were calculated by virtual navigation assisted contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)and conventional CEUS. Results Conventional CEUS sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 60.0%, 69.5% and 63.2%. Virtual navigation assisted CEUS sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 86.6%, 78.3% and 83.8%. Virtual navigation assisted CEUS was superior to conventional CEUS in diagnosis of small hepatocellular carcinoma (P < 0.05). Conclusion Virtual navigation assisted CEUS compared with conventional CEUS has better clinical application value in diagnosis of small hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with liver cirrhosis.
