Abstract:T follicular helper (Tfh) cells are an important component which can help the host induce humoral immune response, and provide crucial support for antigen-specific B cells. Recent studies have shown that HIV infection may result in an abnormality in frequency and function of Tfh cells, which may be associated with dysfunction of humoral immunity, development of neutralizing antibody and vaccination effectiveness in chronic HIV infection. The authors aim to summarize the previous studies on Tfh cells in order to have a better understanding of the pathogenesis of HIV infection.
