Abstract：Chlamydia pneumoniae (Cpn), as one of the most common atypical pathogens of acute respiratory tract infection, may cause pneumonia, bronchitis, pharyngitis and so on, and it may also be related to extrapulmonary diseases such as atherosclerosis, endocarditis and coronary disease, and lead to multi-system and multi-organ failure in some severe cases. Cpn infection occurs worldwide, and can be epidemic in certain regions. However, due to lack of characteristics of clinical manifestations, the diagnosis of Cpn infection is confirmed by laboratory testing results additionally. Therefore, the experts and scholars at home and abroad pay close attention to modifying diagnosis technology, trying to find methods for fast and accurate diagnosis at early stage of infection. This article provides an overview of the development and application value of laboratory diagnosis technology of Cpn.
