Abstract:Objective To investigate the association between neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) before argon-helium cryoabla-tion and the prognosis of advanced liver cancer. Methods Clinical data of 150 patients with advanced liver cancer, who underwent ar-gon-helium cryoablation in our hospital between 2008-2009, were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into 2 groups (high NLR group and low NLR group) according to the median of NLR (2.94) before argon-helium cryoablation. Survival analysis and Cox regression analysis of the 2 groups were conducted. Results Pathology, the NLR before argon-helium cryoablation and Child-Pugh grade were independent risk factors for the survival of patients with advanced liver cancer. The survival of high NLR group was 5 months (95%CI 3.5-6.4), while the survival of low NLR group was 9 months (95%CI 6.9-11.0). The difference between the 2 groups was significant. Conclusion The prognosis of patients with advanced liver cancer who have a NLR of greater than 2.94 before argon-heli-um cryoablation is poor.
