Key points of American guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of Clostridium difficile infection

Abstract:Clostridium difficile infection remains the most important cause of healthcare-associated diarrhea. This article focuses on the key points of the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of Clostridium difficile infection included in 2010 clinical practice guide-lines for Clostridium difficile infection in adults recommended by the society for healthcare epidemiology of America and the infec-tious diseases society of America and guidelines for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of Clostridium difficile infections published in American Journal of Gastroenterology in 2013.
