Abstract:The West Nile virus (WNV) disease is a zoonosis caused by WNV, which poses great threat to the health of human and animals. Although there have been several candidates in clinical trials, there are no approved vaccines of WNV disease in human. From studies of infected animal models, a great deal has been learned concerning the immune response to infection with WNV. The authors provide an overview of the mechanisms by which the innate and adaptive immune response can limit dissemination of WNV infection, in hope of providing strategies for future mechanism study of motivating immune response and development of novel vaccines against WNV.
