Abstract:Objective To assess the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire for HIV brief version (WHOQOL-HIV BREF) in HIV/AIDS patients living in Banan District of Chongqing. Methods WHOQOL-HIV BREF was used for two times in 126 HIV/AIDS patients, and the reliability and validity of WHOQOL-HIV BREF were assessed by correlation analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis and so on. Results The retest correlation coefficient was 0.722, and Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.913. In addition to a few items, the correlation between each item and its field was larger than that between each item and the field which it didn't belong to; all fields had large correlations with the whole scale. Factor analysis extracted 8 ingredients, which was the same as the theoretical concept of WHOQOL-HIV BREF. Conclusions The assessment of the quality of life in HIV/AIDS patients living in Banan District of Chongqing by WHOQOL-HIV BREF is reliable and credible, but there are a few items to be revised and adjusted, so as to make the scale more effective.
