Current status of the diagnosis of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis

Abstract:Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is one of the most common complications of liver cirrhosis. The diagnosis of SBP is controversial in clinical practice, although SBP is defined clearly according to American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and European Association for the Study of the Liver. This review focuses on the current status of the diagnosis of SBP.
