Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between different forms of HIV DNA and disease progression. Methods Re-altime quantitative method was used to detect total and integrated HIV DNA and HIV 2-long terminal repeat (LTR) circular DNA in peripheral blood of 48 patients with definite infection time. With time went on, dynamic features of different forms of HIV DNA and the correlation between different forms of HIV DNA and disease progression were analyzed. Results With the progression of the disease, the levels of total and integrated HIV DNA increased. Total HIV DNA was positively correlated with viral load. Total and integrated HIV DNA was negatively correlated with CD4+T lymphocyte count. There were no correlation between HIV 2-LTR cir-cular DNA and viral load and CD4+T lymphocyte count. Conclusions Our results suggest that it is total and integrated HIV DNA, rather than HIV 2-LTR circular DNA that are closely correlated with disease progression.
