Recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of acute kidney injury in patients with liver cirrhosis

Abstract:Acute kidney injury (AKI) is one of the most severe complications in patients with liver cirrhosis. The kidney in-jury in the background of liver cirrhosis can be classified into AKI, chronic kidney disease and acute-on-chronic kidney disease. Type 1 hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) is a special kind of AKI, type 2 HRS belongs to chronic kidney failure, and the recently pro-posed type 3 HRS is the type with kidney structural injury. This review focuses on the recent research progress of diagnosis, classifi-cation, progression, prognosis, prevention and treatment of AKI in patients with liver cirrhosis.
