Abstract：In order to make the role of microbiology laboratory results in diagnosis of infectious diseases into full play, and improve the quality of the specimen submitted for microbiological testing, this article focuses on the introduction to the methods and procedures of microbiological specimen selection, collection and transport mentioned in a guide to utilization of the microbiology laboratory for diagnosis of infectious diseases,with the intention of serving as a reference to guide physicians and laboratory profes-sionals in standardized practice.
