Abstract:To investigate the evolving patterns of spatial elements agglomeration in rail transit station areas before and after the opening of new lines,an index set for station area agglomeration elements is constructed, and a method to evaluate the coordination between agglomeration indices and influencing factors is established. Firstly, based on multi-source data, spatial agglomeration indices for business formats, population, and land use in the vicinity of Beijing Metro Line 6 stations are established to ex-amine the spatiotemporal evolution trends of agglomeration indices before and after the completion of the rail station. Secondly,a stepwise regression analysis model of spatial agglomeration index and in-fluencing factors and a random forest algorithm are developed to investigate the primary driving forces behind spatial element agglomeration. Finally, employing Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA),an evaluation system for the coordination between rail transit station area traffic conditions and agglomera-tion indices is established, proposing optimization strategies for station areas at different coordination levels. The results show that while the opening of rail lines facilitates the agglomeration of elements to-wards central areas, its impact on central station area spatial element agglomeration is limited, with noticeable improvements in spatial agglomeration indices observed in urban fringe areas. Traffic condi-tions emerge as the primary driver of station area spatial agglomeration. Notably,Beijing Metro Line 6 exhibits a high overall coordinated development index between traffic conditions and spatial agglomera-tion. However, station traffic inputs in urban fringe area are redundant, and the agglomeration output is insufficient. It is necessary to enhance residential and commercial construction scales to align station area spatial agglomeration with traffic conditions.
