Abstract:To address the impact of the randomness of crowd load on pedestrian vibration perception, the dynamic variation laws of pedestrian perception vibration response in random walking models are studied. Firstly, a method for analyzing vertical vibration response considering pedestrian perception is established based on a stochastic crowd walking model. Secondly, different stochastic walking models are compared and analyzed in terms of the maximum perceived vibration response, occurrence time, and location interval. Finally, by studying the correlation between the maximum perceived vibration re-sponse of pedestrians and the peak acceleration of the structure, the vibration response reduction coeffi-cient and coefficient of variation are defined, and an approximate calculation method for the maximumperceived vibration response of pedestrians is proposed. The results indicate that under the four crowd walking models, the maximum acceleration of pedestrian perception follows an approximate normal distribution, with the Ordered Arrangement Model (OAM) having a larger range of values than the other three models. The location and time of the maximum response depend on the walking pattern of pedestrians, with no significant changes as the population density increases. In addition, the distribu-tion of OAM is the same as that of the Stochastic Arrival Model (SAM), concentrated mainly in the middle of the total time-history. Conversely, the distribution of the Stochastic Distribution Model (SDM) and Dynamic Equilibrium Model (DEM) is relatively uniform. The maximum error between the calculated maximum response value and the actual value of pedestrian perception is less than 5 %.
