Fractal Image Coding Method Making Use of Differential Box Counting
Abstract：A new fractal block coding method with Differential Box Counting (abbr. DBC, a method toestimate fractal dimension) is proposed in the paper. The technique utilizes the DBC to find the domainblock which has the nearest fractal dimension to a range block and to choose the first domain block whosedistortion with the range block is below the prior determined threshold as the matching domain block.The advantage of this approach is to reduce the search space for finding the appropriately matched domain block and the appropriate transformation corresponding to a range block.
