Implications of Mao Zedong's Sports Thought in On Physical Education

Abstract:Against the background of deepening sports reform in the new era,re-interpreting Mao Zedong's sports thought in On Physical Education has important theoretical value for grasping the laws of sports development and enlightening contemporary practice.First of all,using research methods such as literature review and textual analysis,this paper reveals the true essence of Mao Zedong's sports thought in On Physical Education through three fundamental inquiries:"What is sports?What efficacy does sports have?What is the ultimate purpose of sports?"Secondly,focusing on three dimensions—"logical starting point,fundamental guideline,and practical transcendence"—it discusses the orientation of Mao Zedong's sports thought in this work.Finally,focusing on four types of thoughts,namely mass sports,lifelong sports,sports first,and happy sports,this paper explores the value of Mao Zedong's sports thought in On Physical Education.
