Abstract:A uniaxial compression test was conducted on brittle sandstone at various fracture angles to investigate its damage characteristics. The mechanical parameters, energy evolution, and crack extension behavior were analyzed using a TAW-1000 microcomputer-controlled three-axis automatic testing machine. The results reveal that the compressive strength of the cracked sandstone is significantly lower than that of the intact rock, and that the specimen's uniaxial compressive strength and elastic modulus decrease as the fracture angle decreases. Its total input energy, elastic energy, and dissipation energy all increase as the fracture angle increases. The change in fracture angle has less impact on the damage mode and more influence on the crack initiation site and extension form.Specifically, the larger the prefabricated fracture angle, the simpler the crack extension pattern.
