Abstract:This study aimed to identify the cause of disease in Siniperca chuatsi at a fish farm and develop an appropriate treatment protocol.Specimens of gills and livers from the affected fish were collected and cultured on LB solid agar plates to isolate and purify the bacteria. The isolated bacteria were then characterized through Gram staining and plated on differential media for further identification. The pathogen's identity was confirmed using PCR techniques. The pathogenicity of the bacterial strain was assessed through animal challenge experiments.Subsequently,an antibiotic sensitivity test was conducted to identify susceptible drugs.Findings from this study showed that the pathogenic bacteria appeared as red, short rod-shaped cells following Gram staining;they produced white colonies on MacConkey agar and yellow colonies on RS agar.PCR analysis verified the bacteria as Aeromonas hydrophila. The antibiotic susceptibility test revealed that the strain was susceptible to drugs including ceftriaxone and cefoperazone. The results of this research provided valuable insights for the prevention, control, and treatment of Aeromonas hydrophila infections in Siniperca chuatsi, offering a reference for developing a specific treatment plan for this case.
