XU Kaiwen
Abstract:In the Internet age, personal information is increasingly becoming a crucial asset and a necessary condition in business competition. While the Internet can provide convenience in people's lives,it also poses risks of infringing on personal information and dignity.Personal information stored on the internet, especially negative information,if unable to be deleted, may lead individuals into the dangerous territory of a"digital prison."Current laws in our country have established rules for the exercise of the right to deletion, but specific conditions for individuals to exercise this right are not clearly defined. The theory of information self-determination,which strongly supports the right to deletion, indicates that it is essential to reasonably respect the individual's control over their personal information.Based on this, this article takes the legislative purpose of the right to deletion as the main focus, analyzes the current legislation in our country, and puts forward the author's opinions.
