Abstract:To enhance the road performance, water stability, and the high temperature stability of Asphalt Concrete,a study was conducted to modify Asphalt Concrete AC-16 with PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate)plastic particles.Considering the climate conditions of Jiangsu and Anhui(subtropical and temperate zones),an optimal mix ratio was determined. The effects of four different dosages(0%,2%,4%,and 6%of the mass of the Asphalt Concrete)of PET particles on water stability and high-temperature stability(rutting resistance)of Ac-16 were examined through freeze-thaw split test, immersion Marshall Test, and rutting test to identify a suitable dosage. The results indicate that the addition of PET plastic particles enhances the road performance of the Asphalt Concrete.Based on the foundational tests and practical engineering,4%PET plastic particles are recommended as the most suitable content.
