Abstract:A surface zinc infiltration layer was prepared on Q235 steel using a mechanical energy-assisted infiltration method with varying Al content infiltration agents. The surface properties of the infiltrated layer were characterized using metallographic microscopy, hardness measurements, and other methods. The results indicated that the 1 # zinc infiltrated sample with 4%Al content formed a 60 μ m infiltration layer with a dense structure, smooth surface, and high hardness. As Al powder content in the infiltration agent powder increased, the thickness of the zinc infiltration layer decreased, and numerous protrusions appeared on the surface. The flatness of the layer worsened, and cracks emerged in the cross-section,leading to a continuous decline in hardness.
