The Floating Duckweed Is Me ——The Interpretation of Female Wanderers in Nie Hualing's Novel Sang Qing Yu Tao Hong

Abstract:Nie Hualing, a female writer of Taiwan, created the full-length novel of Sang Qing Yu Tao Hong in 1970s,which is an elegy of the wanderers undertaking the destiny of China. From the perspective of females, the author creates the character of Sang Qing/Tao Hong, the female wanderer having no one to depend upon in the turbulent days, which shows the reality of females' physical migration and spirit-in-exile phenomenon for half a century. The novel emphasizes on revealing the survival of"trap"and"escape"of females in the turbulent times and provides the historical appearance for the interpretation of females'destinies and psychological demands un-der the certain historical background.
