Reasons of the Lapse from Ancient Journalistic Activities to Modern Journalism in China

Abstract：Ancient China journalism activities led the world once before, but the development of China's modern journalism was influenced by foreign press. That meant a lapse appeared in Chinese journalism for as long as 2500 years. The rise of the native new press in China was hindered by Tipao (Peking Gazette) the monopoly press in the feudal society and its derived transcript service, Chinese self-sufficient feudal economic system, the press environment and traditional culture.
