Heartless Man Image in Chen Shimei and Medea

Abstract：Medea and Qin Xianglian created two typical images of "heartless man" between Chinese and Western culture. The similarity was shown in that they both bore the "kindness more than love" mental burden from their formal wives. In the face of the new era of temptations and public environment, they made the same choice in the patriarchal society. Their differences are in the different status and ex-wife feelings. They had different specific behaviors and final outcomes of wives and children. They had so many different points was mainly because of the different marriage ethic.
