Hydroxyl Free Radical Scavenging Activity of luteolin-Fe3+Complex

Abstract： luteolin is capable of chelating metal ions.The complex of luteolin-Fe3+ was studied by UV-vis spectrophotometry.Its scavenging effects against hydroxyl free radical (·OH) was also determined.The results showed the formation of luteolin-Fe3+complex with stoiehiometric ratio of 1:2 in HAc-NH4Ac (pH=4.5)buffer, the calculated conditional stability constant of the complex was 1.9×1011, and the complex exhibited good ·OH scavenging activity.
