Innovation in Coal Silo Inspection Robot and Its Application in Yujialiang Coal Preparation Plant
Abstract:To address the risks of high-altitude falls, toxic gas poisoning, and monitoring blind spots in manual inspections of coal silos, a coal silo inspection robot has been developed and successfully accepted at Yujialiang Coal Preparation Plant. The robot adopts a spider-like biomimetic design, using a three-stage alloy steel telescopic rail (maximum travel distance of 40-50 m) to achieve vertical movement inside the silo. It is equipped with multiple sensors such as laser radar and infrared thermal imaging cameras. Through multi-modal fusion technology, it accurately monitors silo wall damage (positioning error ≤3 cm), coal accumulation (identification of areas >10 cm), and detects temperature anomalies with an accuracy of 99.2%. The coal pile measurement accuracy has an error of ±3.78%. This robot replaces the traditional 6-person shift inspection system, avoids safety risks, reduces unplanned downtime losses, and serves as the first such equipment in China to obtain mining certification, promoting the transformation of coal silo management toward unmanned and intelligent operations.
