Research and Practice on the Development of Automatic Weight Measurement Technology for Mining Trucks Based on LiDAR
Abstract:In scenarios such as open-pit mines and sand pits, there is a lack of high-precision detection equipment for the actual loading capacity of transport trucks. This paper proposes an automatic weight measurement method for mining trucks based on LiDAR. The technology is divided into offline and online stages: in the offline stage, point cloud templates and parameters of empty mining trucks are stored; in the online stage, point clouds of loaded mining trucks are obtained through LiDAR. The rectangular fitting frame is used to segment the truck bed and cargo point clouds. The Fast ICP algorithm is used to match the pose relationship between the contour point clouds of empty and loaded trucks. After registration, the cargo point cloud is aligned with the bottom point cloud of the empty truck. After gridding and subtraction, a height distribution map is obtained. The volume is calculated by integration. The automatic weight measurement method for mining trucks based on LiDAR has advantages such as high efficiency, high resolution, non-contact, and high precision. Field tests on unmanned mining trucks in a cement mine in Guangxi and a coal mine in Inner Mongolia show that the accuracy is high, and it can be promoted to multiple scenarios for material measurement.
