R&D and Application of the First Domestic Large Cutting Force Compact Wheel Bucket Excavator for High-Cold Areas
Abstract：To solve the problem of low efficiency in the intermittent mining process of single bucket and truck in open-pit coal mines in China, the Shenyang Design and Research Institute of China Coal Engineering Group Co., Ltd. has collaborated with the Baorixile Open-Pit Coal Mine of State Energy Group. For the near-horizontal lignite open-pit mine in Mengdong, they have developed the first domestically produced large cutting force compact wheel bucket excavator BWE3900. It has broken through nine key technologies for continuous mining in high-cold environments. The theoretical capacity is 3,900 m³/h, linear cutting force of 200 kN/m, excavation height of 15 m, fully variable frequency drive intelligent control, and can operate at -48°C. By October 2025, it will complete industrial testing. The wheel bucket continuous coal mining system can produce 5 million tons per year, breaking the foreign monopoly, providing a domestic solution for continuous and less manned mining in open-pit mines, and promoting the innovation of coal mining processes and equipment upgrades.
