Design and Application of a Prone Position Pillow for Infants After Spinal Cord-Spinal Surgery
Abstract:Spinal cord-spinal neurosurgery is an important sub-specialty of neurosurgery, mainly treating diseases of the spine, spinal cord, and related tissues. In this field, congenital developmental abnormalities are particularly prominent. Once diagnosed, surgical treatment is usually required. After such surgery, children need to maintain a prone position for 7-10 days. Young children under the age of 3 often have difficulty controlling their spontaneous movements, and prolonged prone positioning can lead to irritability and frequent crying, which may affect wound recovery. At the same time, due to the presence of surgical wounds on the back, parents also find it difficult to use conventional holding positions to comfort the child. To address this issue, we designed a prone position pillow specifically for children under the age of 3.
