Best Evidence Summary on Discharge Planning for Adult Patients Undergoing Brain Tumor Surgery
Abstract:Objective: To integrate the best evidence on discharge planning for adult patients undergoing brain tumor surgery, providing evidence-based support for clinical practice. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in Up-To-Date, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database for clinical decisions, guidelines, best practices, expert consensus, expert opinions, and systematic reviews related to discharge planning for adult tumor surgery patients, with a search period from the database establishment to March 2024. Two evidence-based nursing researchers independently screened the literature, evaluated its quality, and extracted the evidence. Results: A total of 11 articles were included, consisting of 1 clinical decision, 4 guidelines, 1 expert consensus, 1 expert opinion, 1 recommended practice information manual, and 3 systematic reviews. The evidence was summarized into 23 points across five aspects: patient assessment, plan development, plan implementation, follow-up tracking, and outcome evaluation. Conclusion: This study provides an evidence summary on discharge planning for adult patients undergoing brain tumor surgery, offering evidence-based support for constructing discharge planning processes and practical programs. Medical staff should fully consider clinical contexts to develop appropriate discharge plans for adult brain tumor surgery patients, thereby improving their quality of life.
