The Effect of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure on Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome
Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment on patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS), and to evaluate the impact of this treatment method on sleep efficiency. Methods Sixty-four OSAHS patients admitted to Yuncheng People's Hospital from April 2022 to April 2023 were divided into a control group and an experimental group using a sealed envelope method, with 32 cases in each group. The control group received general internal medicine treatment, while the experimental group received CPAP treatment in addition to general internal medicine treatment. The treatment effects, sleep quality, and related indicators of the two groups were compared. Results (1) The total effective rate of the experimental group (96.88%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (81.25%) (χ2=3.968, P=0.046); (2) the PSQI score of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05); (3) after treatment, the minimum oxygen saturation of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, while the apnea index, hypopnea index, and apnea-hypopnea index were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion CPAP treatment for OSAHS patients has a significant effect, which can improve disease symptoms, blood gas indicators, and sleep quality, and is worth promoting in clinical practice.
