Clinical Observation of Heat-Sensitive Moxibustion in the Treatment of Perennial Allergic Rhinitis
Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of heat-sensitive moxibustion in the treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis, and to provide a new clinical treatment method for related patients. Methods A total of 80 patients with perennial allergic rhinitis admitted to Jiyang District People's Hospital of Jinan City from March 2022 to March 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into an observation group (40 cases) and a control group (40 cases). The observation group was treated with heat-sensitive moxibustion at the Yintang, Feishu, and Guanyuan acupoints, while the control group was treated with desloratadine tablets combined with fluticasone nasal spray. The symptoms, serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels, quality of life, and clinical efficacy of the two groups were compared. Results Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in symptom scores between the two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment, the symptom score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group [(1.05±0.28) points vs. (1.37±0.46) points, t=5.332, P=0.001]. Measurement of serum IgE levels showed that after treatment and 6 months later, the observation group had values of (132.11±122.21) IU/ml and (98.76±122.32) IU/ml, while the control group had values of (98.76±122.32) IU/ml and (136.76±121.09) IU/ml (t=3.423, 4.033, P=0.004, <0.001), with the observation group showing significantly lower levels. After treatment, the quality of life score of the observation group was (88.65±0.34) points, and 6 months later it was (95.34±0.54) points, while the control group had scores of (88.65±0.34) points and (95.34±0.54) points (t=5.643, 6.011, both P<0.001). The total effective rate of clinical efficacy was 95.00% in the observation group and 85.00% in the control group (χ2=5.436, P<0.05). Conclusion Heat-sensitive moxibustion can improve the quality of life of patients with allergic rhinitis, alleviate clinical symptoms during episodes, and has better short-term efficacy compared to conventional moxibustion. This therapy is safe and worthy of clinical application.
