Yulan Knows the Year
Abstract:The days have gradually lengthened, until 6 pm, when the dusk finally descended. Due to the continuous flow of patients in the emergency room during seasonal changes, I didn't get to take off my white coat until the night fell, carrying a body full of fatigue as I left the hospital. The pace of time remains unchanged, and the speed of time's passage never alters according to human will. However, when you fully immerse yourself in work, time seems to accelerate, like a lollipop in a child's hand, melting instantly in the mouth. Emergency doctors start their busy day at 8 o'clock, and before they know it, after just a few turns or a couple of bathroom breaks, it's already time to go home. The hourglass of time never stops, and the flow of years never ceases. As a child, I always felt time moved too slowly, often fantasizing about growing up quickly, being able to switch TV channels freely, going out to work and earn money, getting married and having children, and flying freely under the sky. Yet, when I truly grew up, I began to complain that time flies, even fearing the arrival of holidays, and even dreading my own birthday. Because time does not wait for anyone, and in the annual major holidays, one night shift after another passes silently.
