A Case Report of Pheochromocytoma with Ectopic ACTH Secretion Presenting as Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy and a Literature Review
Abstract:Pheochromocytoma (PCC) is an endocrine tumor originating from the adrenal medullary chromaffin cells, characterized by abnormal synthesis and secretion of catecholamine (CA) substances. More than 80% of patients develop persistent or paroxysmal hypertension due to the continuous release of norepinephrine. It is extremely rare for PCC to present as a crisis with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy as the initial symptom [1]. These patients are often admitted due to acute heart failure and need to be differentiated from acute coronary syndrome.
