A Case Report of Ankylosing Spondylitis with Cardiac Valve Involvement and Tuberculosis Infection
Abstract:Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease and the most classic type of spondyloarthritis (SpA). It commonly affects the sacroiliac joints and spine, with common symptoms including inflammatory low back pain, synovitis of lower limb joints, enthesitis, and dactylitis. It may also present with extra-articular manifestations such as iritis, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease. Additionally, AS patients may experience cardiac involvement (such as cardiac conduction block and valvular heart disease), pulmonary fibrosis, and IgA nephropathy. The first-line treatment for AS is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and if the disease is not well controlled, biologic agents are recommended. There is a risk of tuberculosis infection during the use of biologic agents. As the disease progresses, the clinical manifestations of AS become increasingly complex.
