A Case Report of Castleman Disease Complicated with Thrombotic Microangiopathy and Hypothyroidism and a Literature Review
Abstract:Castleman disease (CD) is a group of rare lymphoproliferative disorders first reported and named by Castleman et al. in 1956, and was included in the National Catalogue of First Batch Rare Diseases in 2018 [1-2]. The etiology and pathogenesis of CD are not fully understood. Due to its atypical clinical symptoms, it is easy to be misdiagnosed or missed. CD can cause secondary renal damage, referring to various types of kidney diseases that occur simultaneously or sequentially with lymph node enlargement [3-7]. This article reports a case of CD complicated with thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) and hypothyroidism, combined with a literature review, for reference by colleagues.
