Application of CXCR4 Imaging in the Etiological Diagnosis of Hypertension with Adrenal Nodules: A Report of Two Cases
Abstract:It is crucial to identify the cause of hypertension, especially for cases that remain difficult to control despite multiple medications, but the condition of hypertensive patients is often complex. Adrenal functional nodules are one of the causes of hypertension, but determining whether adrenal nodules in hypertensive patients are functional has traditionally required multiple methods. Targeting the CXC chemokine receptor 4, 68Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT nuclear imaging (referred to as CXCR4 imaging) is a recently developed imaging technique for assessing the functionality of adrenal nodules. It can provide a safe, non-invasive, relatively quick, and cost-effective diagnosis. Here, we report two cases of hypertension where CXCR4 imaging was used to aid in the diagnosis.
